What do you do at Judges?I manage and take care of everything within the Events Department. We host Weddings, Christenings, Special Occasions, Corporate Meetings, and Private Dining. Our focus is on perfecting individual events, working with our clients to design their special day and make it truly unique to them.
What are your credentials/past experience, for working in your position? Before I moved to the Events Department I worked with Hotel Reservations & Reception which gave me a great understanding of the business before moving into Event planning.
What do you like about working at Judges?Weddings, I really enjoy the journey from an initial visit to seeing all of their plans coming into place on the day. We work with our couples individually throughout the process which can be over a long period of time. It's lovely to build that relationship and see the end result.
Hospitality is an interesting industry and no two days are ever the same! We have an amazing team, plus the Hotel and Grounds are beautiful – everyone says how lucky we are to work in such a wonderful setting!
What are your top tips for couples booking a wedding?Think about the number of guests you want to invite before you start to look at venues, remember you need room to move about as well as for the dancing.
Don’t be afraid to ask, here at Judges we have hosted lots of different options from a very formal black-tie wedding to ones with more of a festival vibe.
Take advantage of the outside space and try weather dependent to move as much of the day outside as possible.
Guests tend to be more relaxed when outside in the fresh air. Here at Judges, our outside wedding gazebo is hugely popular.
Don't go dress shopping on your own; they will all start to look the same after a while and it will be harder to recall which one you really loved. But be careful about who you bring. You need an honest opinion.
Be realistic with your timings – things always run late on the big day, just make sure your venue allows for some flexibility in timing.
Secure your suppliers early on, especially if you are getting married on a Saturday in August. Most venues will have a recommended list which saves you the time of sourcing your own.
If you don’t want to meet another bride on your big day, make your venue has a ‘one wedding a day’ policy as we do at Judges.
Check what’s included in your package, you don’t want to be bitten by any hidden extras. Check that things like a master of ceremonies and a cake stand and knife are all included.
Lastly, enjoy the day, it’s a wonderful thing to get married and you will be surrounded by family and friends. So, make sure you take a step back and really enjoy the day you created.
What are your favourite Podcasts/Books?The Hitched and Belle Bridal workshops for Wedding Organisers are brilliant for keeping up with all the latest trends and picking up new ideas.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?I love live music and comedy nights, the cinema and walking. Spending time with the family is really important to me too, planning trips and holidays always gives us something to look forward to.
