First Names and Surname: Joanne & David Roebuck
How did you meet? We met on Tinder.
Who made the proposal and how did you know they were the one?
Dave proposed on Christmas Day 2018. I knew he was the one because you don’t often fall in love with someone and I fell in love with him and vice versa.
How did you choose the venue?
We attended several Wedding Fares in the area and Judges was the perfect fit for us. We loved the fact it had a private function area, gorgeous grounds for the photos and the history of the building gave it a unique atmosphere lacking in other venues.
After checking online and seeing all the positive reviews and the fact it had regularly appeared in the “Good Hotel Guide” and listed in the “Pride of Britain Hotels” we knew we would be in safe hands.
Did you have a set style or theme for the wedding and how did you achieve this?
Although we didn’t start with a set style or theme in mind, we did end-up with a slightly vintage feel. We used vintage accessories for the bridal party and feathers in the centrepieces, which were complimented by the décor of the venue.
What would be your favourite moment of the day?
Dave’s mum arranged the North East Singing Waiters as surprise during the Wedding Breakfast, which was amazing and got everyone up dancing and singing. This is something we still talk about now. It really kept the celebrations going throughout the afternoon.
Overall, how did you find planning your wedding? Did you have a lot of help, did you use wedding fairs to choose suppliers?
We found the experience enjoyable, we had 13 months to plan the wedding and choose all of our suppliers at wedding fairs. After selecting Sheer Elegance Weddings & Events, we asked them to recommend other suppliers that they regularly work with and went with them too.
What would be the best advice you received, or from your experience would like to pass onto future couples just beginning their wedding journey?
Start a spreadsheet! This was a lifesaver as we had everything in one place from Budget, Suppliers, key dates , guests, rsvp’s, table plan, gifts, to-do lists etc.
Also look for packages to save costs, for example, we got LOVE letters and a sweets trolley included in our Photography package.
