This will be hosted by Peter Sidebotham, the owner of internet wine merchant, ‘Hand Picked Burgundy’. Peter delighted guests at our Burgundy evening last year with his forthright and amusing presentation of the region’s wines so we have invited him back to show us more delicious examples of his range. We will taste wines from various domaines and vintages in Burgundy and a couple from around the world to show the breadth of styles and flavours Burgundy’s grapes can achieve. All of Peter’s wines have been tasted by him to ensure they are ready for drinking (it’s a hard job, but someone has to do it!) so you will taste the wines at their peak. ‘A Taste of China’ Workshop Tai Chi, Daoyin Tao and Chinese Foot Massage

By popular demand, we have invited back Robin Sunley of Sun-Ley Chinese Martial Arts for another Tai Chi workshop. Yang-style Tai Chi is suitable for people of all ages and build, at all levels of fitness. When practised correctly, it promotes good posture, flexibility, and both physical and mental health and harmony. The day will begin with some gentle warm-up exercises followed by some exercises from the Yang-style 8-step. Weather permitting, the Tai Chi session will take place in the relaxing setting of Judges beautiful gardens.

After a light 2-course lunch in the restaurant, join Judith Watson from Smart Therapies in Saltburn for an introduction to two different Chinese-influenced therapies. ‘Daoyin Tao’ is a powerful synergy of Chinese and Western massage concentrating on the face, neck and shoulders. Chinese foot massage is not just any foot massage, but a therapeutic combination of massage and reflexology which can relieve common aches and promote good health. Time-permitting you will practise more Tai Chi before tea and scones.

CHEF FOR THE DAY

Ever wanted to join our team of Chefs for the day and learn a few secrets of the trade?

Your day will commence at 9.30am when, after coffee, you will get to work with your own chef. After a quick lunch, you’ll be back to your station during service to see how the kitchen really ticks. You can finish around 2.30pm with Afternoon Tea in the lounge. Or, for the real chef experience, feel free to come back and work the evening shift. Places are strictly limited and available Monday to Thursday only. Chef’s whites provided.
